MANGROVE – A BATTLE OF ARTISTS TO PROTECT THE BIODIVERSITY AND CULTURAL LIFE OF SUNDARBANS
The natural scenario and life struggle of the subaltern folks of Sundarbans reflect a parallel stream of culture. Being enriched by natural and social resources, the struggle and resurrection of the refugees are always prevailing here. The cultural legacy and the aesthetic senses of the marginalized people of this area have hoary traditions. These are yet to be discovered, fully. Mangrove, a group of painters and sculptures is determined to play the pivotal role to represent that in the mainstream of Indian Art. Mangrove, established in the year 2015 has been working to spread the message of the need to conserve the natural resources of Sundarbans through exhibitions. Mangrove takes part in Rajya Charukala Utsav, Kolkata, and other prestigious exhibitions throughout the year. Established by 10 founder-members, this group now enjoys the membership of 25 eminent artists. 20 artists, those who are closely related and familiar with the cultural life of marginalized folks, have taken part in this exhibition. Being driven by the wild dream of culminating the talents of marginalized artists of Sundarbans, Mangrove is going to organize this Online Art Exhibition on and from 1st to 31st August 2021. The chief motto is, obviously, to conserve the bio-diversified natural life and cultural life of Sundarbans.
